I tackle topics ranging from hard-core politics and policy to upstart co-op farms to independently funded documentary filmmakers to women challenging Catholicism’s hidebound adherence to celibate male priests. I’m as comfortable in a board room with middle-aged white guys as I am in an alley talking to homeless people. I’ve covered campaigns, education and social justice issues but have also written about homemade wine, impulsive marathoning and Amy Grant’s deep fall for Vince Gill.
My work has appeared in The Washington Post, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, among many other publications (The Bergen Record? Yep.), and I’m the former editor and now contributing writer of the award-winning Nashville Scene and a contributing writer at Chapter 16. (More than you’d ever want to read here.) I’m also a former writer and editor for the Where the Locals Eat series of city dining guides.
When I’m not freelance writing for newspapers and magazines, I edit national, custom-published consumer quarterlies with a combined circulation of 2.25 million. Please follow the tabs above to find samples of my published work.
